About the Club
McIlwraith Croquet Club was established in 1923 after the land was bequeathed to the Town of Toowong by Lady McIlwraith (wife of Sir Thomas McIlwraith Premier of Brisbane). It was donated for recreational purposes only! We are not sure what the origin of the clubhouse is as the Club records were destroyed in the 1974 flood when the entire building was submerged except for the roof. Our Clubhouse has recently been completely renovated by the Brisbane City Council and we boast first class facilities for members and visitors.
Croquet players are welcome any time while holidaying in or around Brisbane and should feel free to join us any playing day with the friendly locals!
Croquet is a pastime for people of all ages and levels of fitness and new members are always welcome to come along and enjoy three free ‘Come & Try's’. New members will have coaching available to them.
